IOS Press is a rapidly expanding Scientific, Technical, Medical and Professional publishing house focusing on a broad range of subject areas. IOS Press B.V. was established in 1987 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. It employs in 2001 18 persons in Amsterdam with a turnover of EURO 2,4M in 1999 (up 26% from 1998)
In 1990 IOS Press incorporated an office in Burke, Virginia, USA. Since 1994 IOS Press participates in a co-publishing relationship with Ohmsha Ltd. in Tokyo. Through this company IOS Press book publications are available in Japan.
In 1996 IOS Press and Ohmsha re-established Akademische Verlagsgesellschaft Aka GmbH in Berlin, Germany. Aka publishes books and journals in German. The first book appeared in 1997, the first journal in 1998. Begin 2000 Aka has merged with the German publisher Infix, a publisher of books in Artificial Intelligence and other areas of Computer Science.
Early 1998 a joint venture between Science Press, Beijing, Ohmsha and IOS Press was established in Beijing, reflecting the ever-increasing importance of scientific research being conducted in China. The new company will publish for the Chinese market as well as undertake typesetting in world languages.

EURO prices
are definitive. In the USA and Canada the US$ prices are definitive. (Differences
in exchange rate are due to the different dates of posting GBP, DM and
US$ prices). Customers in EU countries please mention your V.A.T. number
(MwST, TVA, BTW, ..) to receive an invoice without V.A.T. charge. Otherwise
we will have to charge 6% V.A.T. For prepaid book orders we do not charge
any postage or handling.
